Trip to Think Tank

On Wednesday 27th April 2011 year 5 hopped on the Green Bus and made their way to the Think Tank in central Birmingham.
We spent the day exploring the Think Tank, focusing on the area ‘Things about me’ as this links with our next science topic. We had great fun finding out how blood moves around our body, discovering new things about how we digest food and training our brain by playing games.

We also enjoyed two workshops, one on reversible and irreversible changes where we were able to make and play with our own slime! Then Space Mission where we learnt why nappies are important for astronauts, as well as acting out how the earth orbits the sun.

Firemen visit.

On Friday 4th March 2011 year 5 had a visit from some firemen from West Midlands fire service.
The children learnt about what they should do if there is a fire in their house, identified fire risks in the home and the danger of hoax calls. We had a great morning and learnt loads about how to keep ourselves safe.
