Head Teacher’s Welcome
I would like to extend a
warm welcome to Hatchford Brook School’s
website. I'm sure that in whatever capacity
you are reading this, you will recognise the
strengths, achievements and potential that
exists within this school.
I am privileged to be
Head Teacher of a unique school, which
caters for mainstream pupils from age 3-11
and also has an additional annual intake of
Year 3 pupils from our local feeder Infant
School, Valley, making Hatchford Brook a
combined Primary and Junior School. We also
house an Additionally Resourced Centre for
pupils with speech, language and some
hearing needs. This provides excellent
opportunities for specialised teaching and
for ARC pupils to join mainstream classes
where appropriate.
We pride ourselves on
placing the child at the heart of our
approach to education, and this is achieved
with the support of a dedicated and skilled
team of staff, well supported by our
Governing Body and Parents, Teachers and
Friends Association. Academic achievements
are an important part of educational
success, but only form one aspect of our
ethos and approach; we aim for excellence,
by seeking to maximise every child’s
potential to ensure they become responsible,
independent individuals, equipped with the
requisite skills to become active members of
their community, appropriate to their needs,
skills and goals.
Our relationship with
parents is especially important, so that we
can work together to achieve the very best
for the children entrusted to our care. We
work in close partnership with Playtime
Pals, our private Before and After School
and Holiday Club, who also provide Playgroup
facilities for pre-school children and their
parents. In addition, through our Learning
Mentor and our Pupil and Family Support
Mentor, we provide extra support for pupils
and parents and a range of activities.
This website may be
your first experience of Hatchford Brook and
I hope it gives you the information you are
looking for. Good as it is, it only gives
you a brief glimpse of aspects of school
life. If you would like further information
regarding our work, I would encourage you to
contact the school office and arrange a
visit. I would welcome the opportunity to
meet you, answer your questions and let you
see our unique school in action.
Alternatively, you can send me an email via
the school office email address. I also
welcome suggestions and feedback on items we
have included in our website and any
improvements we could make. I look forward
to meeting you in the future.
